BUA health reports

 2010  2009  2008

The British Utonagan Association is the first and only association to collate all the previous breeders findings and issues that have been reported in the Utonagan since it began. As you will all be aware it is an impossible task to recognise what is and is not hereditary with-out a proper concise record of what has went before our own dogs, this sadly was never done.

It is with much hard work and help from other breeders and Societies that we have managed to compile what we have in order that the geneticists, vets and breeders may have a clearer picture of what we actually had in the ancestry of our own dogs. Sadly the founders of the Utonagan never divulged this most important information to any future breeders in any form of formal report made available to any association or vet, making it exceedingly difficult to form any sort of genetic pedigrees to therefore assist the specialists and agree on modes of inheritance any issues we have found in the past. It is with gratitude that we thank all of the breeders and owners now, who have given all of there findings, good and bad, to the BUA. Enabling us to work out with the specialists what was found and how to advise our future breeders...

These reports detail all the findings we have been given and also the recommendations made by the vets and specialists, our grateful thanks to the Animal Health Trust, Mr Malcolm Davidson BVMS CertVOphthal MRCVS (Eye Specialist), Mr A McKenzie  BVMS CertVOphthal MRCVS (Eye Specialist), Geoff Culshaw BVMS, DVC, MRCVS  (Cardiopulmonary Medicine) and The Roslyn Institute (The Royal School of Veterinary Studies) and also to all of our own veterinary practises for their guidance and help.

It is with the help of all of the above we have been able to put together the last 3 Reports which are the most concise and true facts regarding the origins of our breed... As you will be aware the BUA have now started a new program to start bringing in healthy new foundation stock and propose to create the "British Utonagan" and from now forward armed with the hindsight of this information will create true and full records of our own dogs.
